DRC, Beaucastel and Moueix launch a charity wine sale

Important personalities of the French wine market including Aubert de Villaine, the co-manager of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, and Jean-Pierre Perrin of Château de Beaucastel, unite to organize a charity wine sale.

Entitled 12 de Coeur, their initiative would be a first for the French wine industry. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to Restos du Coeur.

It is organized by some of the biggest names in French wine, including Aubert de Villaine from DRC, Jean-Claude Rouzaud from Louis Roederer, Jean-Pierre Perrin from Beaucastel, Jean-François Moueix from Pétrus, Pierre-Henry Gagey from Louis Jadot and Michel Boss of the School of Wine and Terroirs of Puligny-Montrachet.

They plan to ask players in the French market (chateaus, but also cooperative cellars and negociants) to donate 12 bottles each of their best wine, which will be sold on Saturday October 24, 2015 as part of a sale charity.

They also hope that the cellars will open their doors to the public during the sale and donate 12 % of their profits for the day.

"The idea is to launch a simple initiative that brings together all players, regardless of size or fame," group president Pierre-Henry Gagey (Louis Jadot) told decanter.com.

“There are 80,000 winegrowers in France and I hope we can bring together wines between €5 and €500 to represent the diversity of wine production in the country. »

“We winegrowers are sensitive to the notion of solidarity. When we're battling the elements, it's often the neighbors who offer to help. »

The October sale will take place in Bercy, the traditional district of Parisian wine merchants.
