Chateau La Bergere (red)

    AOC MONTAGNE-SAINT-EMILION

    Red

    Deep ruby colour. Bunch of small red berries and pepper. Develop with fullness and smoothness. Silky, ripe tannins. An elegant bottle.

    WINE MAKER

    Camille Benoist and his father took over Château La Bergère and its “garden of vines”
    in 1998. Located a stone's throw from St Emilion, they rapidly adopted organic farming techniques. Now considered a rising star of the St Emilion region, their wines of great finesse and balance have reached the tables of Michelin Starred restaurants.

    SITE

    The vineyard is located 2km away from Saint-Emilion with South-East facing plots.

    GRAPE VARIETY

    85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon.

    SOIL

    The soil is composed of sand and chalky clay.

    GROWING METHOD

    Mechanical weed control is used rather than herbicides.

    SURFACE AREA

    6.6 hectares.

    DENSITY

    6500 vines / hectares.

    VINIFICATION

    Natural vinification with minimal interference. Cement and stainless steel tanks

    AGING

    12 to 15 months in oak barrels
