Moët & Chandon has appointed Stephane Baschiera as its new managing director, effective March 2012.

LVMH

Baschiera (left), who has been chief executive officer of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin since 2009, has previously held a number of senior positions with Moët Hennessy, the wines and spirits division of LVMH.

Since joining the company in 1996, Baschiera has been commercial director of Moët Hennessy Diageo France, director of Moët Hennessy in Italy and then chief executive officer of Ruinart.

Baschiera succeeds Daniel Lalonde as CEO of Moët & Chandon. Lalonde took on the role in July 2010.

In confirming his appointment, LVMH spoke of Baschiera’s contribution to the “excellent performance” of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin since his appointment there in 2009.

His role at Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin will be filled by Marc Lacave, who joined the watches and jewellery division of LVMH in the UK in 2001. Since 2007 he has been chief executive officer of watches and jewellery in Asia.
