Mommessin – Brouilly
Shiny red ruby in colour with a beautiful nose of cherry and raspberry, combining with notes of minerality. The bouquet mirrors the full bodied palate of red berried fruits.
OWNER
Since 1865 the vineyard has been owned and managed by the house of Mommessin stamped by a dual lineage : the alliance of the typically Burgundian quest for excellence and the search for bursting flavours that are expected of a Beaujolais winemaker.
WINE MAKER
The Brouilly cru is the largest of all the Beaujolais crus, coming from the central part of the region, quite precisely from the village of Saint Lager. It lies at the foot of the hill of the Mont Brouilly and is such an old vineyard that it was once cultivated by the Romans.
SITE
The vineyard is located in Odenas on the Brouilly hills.
GRAPE VARIETY
Black gamay with the juice.
SOIL
Granite, schist and alluvial sandy soils.
GROWING METHOD
Hand harvested, traditional farming.

Traditional Beaujolais winemaking; semi-carbonic fermentation.
