Château du Gazin – Canon Fronsac
AOC CANON FRONSAC
An intense carmine red, this wine will present a nose of red fruits and black currant mixed with spicy notes. The mouth is fresh and intense, with soft tannins. A great success.
ESTATE
The Château du Gazin is part of the wines of the right bank of Bordeaux. Close to the prestigious vineyards of Pomerol and Saint Emilion (5 Kms). The winery produces 140 000 bottles per year. It is the largest property of Canon Fronsac appellation.
SITE
All the vines are located all around the estate. The village is Saint Michel de Fronsac.
GRAPE VARIETY
85 % Merlot / 5% Cabernet Sauvignon / 5% Cabernet Franc / 5% MalbecFranc.
SOIL
Clay and limestone / Sandy-clay.
GROWING METHOD
Sustainable viticulture with no synthetic herbicides or pesticides.
SURFACE AREA
30 hectares in total. 24 hectares in Canon Fronsac and 6 hectares in Fronsac.
DENSITY
7000 vines / hectares.
VINIFICATION
Hand harvested and hand sorted. 100% de-stemmed and vertically pressed. Vinification for 3 weeks in stainless steel tanks. Natural yeasts.
AGEING
100% in French oak barrels (20% new oak). No filtration
