WINE MAKER
This vineyard has been run by the Berjal family for 5 generations. In 2012, the family’s continuous and careful work enabled the wine to be promoted to Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classé.
SITE
The property is located very close to Chateau Canon, Chateau Clos Fourtet and Chateau Beau-Sejour Becot. The Berjal family also owns the Bordeaux wine Chateau la Tour de Segur which is located in the commune of Lussac St. Emilion.
GRAPE VARIETY
79% Merlot and 21% Cabernet.
SOIL
Clay, limestone, gravel and sand.
GROWING METHOD
Sustainable viticulture. No synthetic herbicides or pesticides. Hand-harvested.
SURFACE AREA
3.3 hectares.
DENSITY
330 wines / hectare.
VINIFICATION
The wine is fermented in cement lined vats before being moved to oak barrels.
AGEING
12 to 15 months in oak barrels (50% new) depending on the quality and character of the vintage.
